Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group (NCIG) owns and operates one of Australia’s major coal export terminals on Kooragang Island, Newcastle (NSW). Commissioned in 2010, the facility handles around 66 million tonnes of coal each year.  As part of NCIG’s long-term asset maintenance strategy, Freyssinet was engaged to deliver the second stage of coating works on critical infrastructure. The program focused on extending the life of the SR02 stacker reclaimer and piles across wharves K8, K9 and K10.

The works were delivered under tight outage schedules and in challenging marine environments, requiring tailored access solutions, strict environmental controls, and a 24-hour work program to ensure safe and timely completion.
