Castlemine Brewery Refurbishment

Freyssinet was engaged to refurbish the XXXX Castlemaine Brewery trade waste sump, enhancing its corrosion resistance against the acidic byproducts of beer production. The scope included the installation of a BluSeal Anchor Knob system,
concrete remediation, steel replacement, and modular formwork installation.
A key challenge of the project was navigating the confined space, with all personnel and materials, including modular formwork, accessed through a single manhole. This constraint demanded meticulous planning, precise coordination, and specialist confined space expertise.

Freyssinet Scope

Removal of deteriorated concrete through high-
pressure water blasting, achieving the required surface profile for adhesion.
Replacement of steel reinforcement.
A modular BluSeal Anchor Knob system was secured
to formwork and grouted into place to ensure full mechanical bonding.
Works completed in a confined space, requiring
optimised formwork design and extensive liner
welding preparation.
Comprehensive quality assurance, including visual and
mechanical inspections of all welds.
