The launching of the Twin Arch Bridge is part of the Sydney Gateway Project – NSW Government initiative aimed at enhancing road and freight rail transport to and from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) Airport and Port Botany. It formed part of an integrated transport network designed to expand capacity and enhance connections to support growth in passenger, freight, and commuter traffic across the region.
