Freyssinet was engaged to deliver structural remediation works at the Pinkenba malt silos, a bulk materials facility that used to be operated by Graincorp. The site primarily stores malt in twelve freestanding reinforced concrete silos, each measuring 36 metres in height and 13.6 metres in diameter. Constructed in three stages, the silos form three blocks of four, with steel galleries above housing conveyors and mechanical equipment. Following detailed structural investigations, repairs and strengthening works were required on one block of four silos to maintain structural integrity and extend the facility’s service life.
