Graincorp Limited maintain an operational bulk materials facility in the eastern Brisbane suburb of Pinkenba. Forming a visually prominent part of this facility is a bank of twelve free standing reinforced concrete silos, each measuring 36m in height and 13.6m in diameter. A reinforced concrete cone forms the roof structure at each silo, over which steel galleries link each of the silos, housing conveyors and other mechanical plant. Due to the age and general condition of the structures, the need for urgent structural repair was deemed necessary.
