The Majura Parkway Bridge, part of the 11.5 km Majura Parkway opened in April 2016, is a critical transport link connecting the Federal Highway and Monaro Highway in Canberra. Its most prominent feature, the Malcolm Fraser Bridge, comprises two incrementally launched concrete box girder structures, each approximately 202 metres long, spanning the Molonglo River and Morshead Drive. Recently, one WP350 finger type expansion joint panel on this bridge was damaged by a heavy vehicle, compromising its anchoring system. This incident required a rapid and innovative repair solution to maintain the bridge’s performance without full road closures which demonstrates the versatility of finger-type expansion joints in enabling efficient maintenance under live traffic conditions
