Kangaroo Creek Dam, located 17 km northeast of Adelaide on the Torrens River, has undergone a significant upgrade to enhance its flood management and water storage capabilities. The project focused on raising the crest height of the ogee spillway, thereby increasing the dam’s total catchment capacity.

This enhancement ensures that the dam can better manage extreme weather events and align with contemporary safety standards. The upgraded spillway allows for a greater volume of water to be safely discharged during peak inflow periods, reducing the risk of downstream flooding. The Kangaroo Creek Dam upgrade represents a commitment to sustainable water infrastructure, ensuring a reliable water supply for the Adelaide region while prioritizing community safety and environmental stewardship.

Freyssinet Scope

  • Designed and supplied temporary platforms to facilitate safe and efficient drilling and stressing operations.

  • Procured high-quality materials in strict adherence to project specifications.

  • Drilled 22 holes, each 40 meters deep with diameters ranging from 216mm to 311mm, to accommodate permanent strand anchors.

  • Fabricated, installed, grouted, and stressed permanent strand anchors to ensure structural integrity.

  • Completed finishing processes on anchors following the approval of stressing results, ensuring compliance with quality standards.

  • Installed 150 rock bolts and performed 150 meters of consolidation grouting to enhance structural stability.

  • Executed all activities with a steadfast commitment to safety and in strict compliance with the project’s rigorous specifications.
