Routine condition assessments were conducted on the structure in previous years and determined that remediation works are required to the structure.

BHP has undertaken an extensive remediation project from 2015 onwards to restore the Berth 2 caisson columns to enable a further 40-year serviceable design life. Including a capital improvement package to install a Cathodic Protection (CP) system to the columns to ensure the durability of the structure for the future 40-years.
