- Concrete repairs on a mine site during a shut-down period
- Removal and Replacement of concrete including saw cutting and hydro-demolition as well as concrete reinstatement with formwork and reinforcement to various sections.
- Localized concrete repairs, with installation of galvanic anodes, to the ROM2 Hopper Vault and Transfer Station
Goonyella Riverside is one of nine metallurgical coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin and was opened in 1982. Freyssinet was contracted to conduct concrete repairs on the ROM2 Dump station during a shutdown period in 2023.
The project involved removing and replacing the ROM 2 wingwall and slabs, employing diamond cutting techniques to segment the concrete for removal via crane. Ultra High-Pressure (UHP) Hydro-demolition was used to remove concrete while retaining reinforcement, followed by new reinforcement placement and conventional formwork construction for new concrete. Adjacent ground was reinstated and compacted.
Additionally, repairs to a 20sqm area included UHP Hydro-demolition, installation of galvanic anodes, replacement reinforcement as needed, welding services, formwork installation, concrete placement, and curing.
