1301 – Strengthening

Description:

The increase of heavy traffic (road trains) on the Great Northern Highway for mining and gas projects forced the Western Australian Government to increase the capacity of infrastructure, especially in the north of the state. This bridge was one of a long list of bridges that required strengthening. Freyssinet Australia was awarded this job based on proven main contractor abilities with a quality system in place.

Key Aspects:
Construction of a by-pass road (traffic management).
Deconstruction of concrete structure on the bridge (cable cutting).
Strengthening of steel column with additional plates.
Installation of carbon fibre under the bridge.
Pouring of a 150mm reinforced concrete overlay.
Working in a remote area.
