Description:
Freyssinet Australia was awarded the contract to complete the installation of carbon fibre fabric (TFC) to the refurbishment of West Kiera Shopping Centre under Head Contractor Hansen Yuncken.
The works included the deign check of the client’s design/structural engineer to ensure that the Freyssinet TFC design criteria were met. All the works were completed while the retail centre was in full operation, 7 days a week. The works were completed during day and night shifts over 2.5 months.
Key Aspects:
Surface preparation by surface grinding.
Crack repair and patch repairs.
Application of TFC.
All the works were completed by use of mobile scaffolding and scissor lifts.
The works were split into mainly two parts:
o Locations behind hoarded area.
o Locations which were open for public access as the shopping centre was in full operation during the refurbishment. Areas which required works outside the hoarding needed to be completed at night and full encapsulation of that area was paramount in order to ensure that no dust or debris escaped and caused damage or cleaning maintenance the next day.
